Vanishing Grace? Is the Gospel Still Good News?
Join Jeff Ives and Pastor Santosh Ninan as they present three sessions that address the changing view of Christians in our society and how Christians can respond to some of the pressing issues of our time.
Jeff will present two sessions working from the book “Vanishing Grace” by Phillip Yancey. This material will examine the context of hostility in which Christians are called to live out their faith in our culture today. How do we respond with the gospel message in a way that is winsome and attractive to non-believers?
Santosh will speak at the final class titled “What is the gospel for the LGBTQ+ community?” In this class Santosh will share concerning 20 years of his friendships and relationships with gay and lesbian men and women – some Christian and some not, his recent involvement in a dialogue with gay Christians in Nashville and some of the most recent Christian scholarship on homosexuality.
Please join us, and bring family and friends, on Friday, December 16th from 6-8pm. The children of BG will lead some carols, perform the annual Christmas Skit and some special songs. Pastor Santosh will lead a Christmas devotion which will followed by the Birthday Party for Jesus, with Pizza and cake, games and a craft.
Please join us and sing! On December 17th, from 4-7pm, we will sing carols in Triphammer Mall between Target and Old Navy and ring the bell for the Salvation Army. All are welcome and encouraged to come!
On December 18th from 5pm-8pm bring your kids to the lower level of the church for some fun. They will eat an allergy-free (no nuts, no gluten, vegetarian options) meal, participate in crafts, games and watch a G-rated Christmas movie, while you enjoy a night out with your spouse, go shopping or take some time for yourself!
Invite friends with children to join you and please RSVP to Sandy Sorensen at email@example.com. Walk-ins will be accepted as long as there is capacity.
There is only one service on the Sunday following Thanksgiving, November 27th. Please join us at 9:30 for a fellowship time. If you have any leftover baked goods from Thanksgiving day, bring them to share. The service will start at 10am. There will only be childcare for infants through preschool aged children. There will be children’s bulletins with activities for school-aged children available.
And the winner is….Beth Thorp’s Raspberry Pie. More memories to come!
If you have children 10 and under, please join other families this Friday for pizza and discussion. This Family Connect we will be discussing “Baptism and Communion for Children”.
We will study the meaning of both baptism and communion and how to know when our kids are ready for both. Surprisingly, this is a topic that not many Christian parents have with their children. Pastor Santosh and Felicia will share about how they discuss spiritual matters with their children.
Cost is $10/family for the meal.
We meet Friday October 21 – 6:00pm-8:00pm – Fellowship Room (church basement area). RSVP required by Wednesday, October 19.
