This year the annual picnic will again be at Stewart Park in the large pavilion, directly following the “Visitors” service on June 11th. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be served. Please bring a neighbor or friend and a side dish or a dessert to pass.
This Sunday, May 22nd will be the first Sunday of our summer schedule. We will only have one service at 10am. There will be childcare available for infants through preschool, Children’s Church for children in Kindergarten through grade three, and Bible Study Fellowship for those in grades four and five.
It is time for the Annual Church Picnic again. On Sunday June 5, after church, we will meet at Stewart Park in the large pavilion. Please note the location as it has changed from previous years. Hot dogs, burgers and drinks will be provided, starting at 12:30pm. Please bring a dish to pass (please no nuts in anything), your own table service, and your neighbors.
The change of venue should be a lot of fun, as there is a nice playground, a carousel, water fountains (bring your swim suits), volleyball and softball, not to mention the great fellowship we enjoy every year.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us… (John 1:14)
The God of the Universe became man and lived among us. Why did He do this? Ultimately, that we might be restored back into the relationship He created us to have with Him. Incredible! It is such an amazing act of Love on God’s part; one that needs to be shared with the world. But what about those who don’t know this incredible news? What about those who have no idea that God came to dwell among them; that He even desires a relationship with them? That is where you and I come in. That is why we are called to be in the world but not of it (John 17:14-19). IN the world, walking among the people of the world, bringing God’s grace, and letting the Light of Christ shine through us.
We have a great opportunity to do just that this coming June 3rd during Ithaca Festival parade. Please contact Eric Hause if you can help and if you would like to walk beside our float in the parade. The parade will start at 5pm on Friday evening. This Saturday at 9am, the parade committee will meet to build the float. Please contact Jonathan Butcher at email@example.com or JW Betts at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On June 4th, BG will have an art table at the Festival. Children will be able to choose from 3 age appropriate crafts. Volunteers are needed to help children make the crafts and to visit with parents, showing the love of Christ to Ithaca! Contact Mary Hause at email@example.com if you can help or with questions you might have.
On September 20th, we began the church-wide Believe campaign. From the sermon on Sunday morning, to Sunday School Classes for two-year olds through adult, and small groups meeting throughout the week, we will be studying the key tenets of our faith, what we really believe and how to live out our faith daily. Together we will discover or reconfirm what we believe and examine how we can fully live those beliefs, with the goal of becoming more and more like Jesus. For more information and resources as we study together this year, see Believe materials for yourself.
