While They’re Here With Is

Three Ithaca College seniors have served at BG since the spring of 2021. Discover more about them and how to support them in prayer as they complete their degrees.

Megan Burghdorf is a Trumpet Performance Major from Middletown, PA, who also has remarkable vocal skills. She is active on BG’s worship team and leads worship from the piano at IC Lighthouse Ministry, a gathering of about 30 students on Wednesday evenings. Beyond her musical abilities, she has been a competitive figure skater and plays on IC’s frisbee team. During the summer Megan works at Hershey Park’s Chocolate World. Megan’s parents Amy and Gus are also IC music graduates.

Abby Carothers is a Music Education and Psychology Major from Eagle River, Alaska.  At BG, she volunteers with Kingdom Kids and plays violin in worship. Last summer, Abby went on a short-term trip to Ukraine, a medical mission that delivered essential humanitarian aid. During summer breaks in Alaska, she teaches VBS in a nearby fishing village, does babysitting and violin lessons, and serves at the Music Academy. At IC, she plays violin in the Chamber Orchestra and cello in Sinfonietta. She is Secretary of the American String Teachers Association. Abby requests prayer for completing her degree and future mission trips.

David Castro is a Music Education Major from White Plains, NY, who plays tuba, bass and trombone.  He has been part of BG’s brass ensemble and worship team. At IC he is in the Wind Ensemble and Tuba Euphonium Ensemble. An Eagle Scout, David likes camping and hiking. When he is home, he plays in many community bands.  David is trusting that God will lead him where he should go following his graduation.

Megan, David, and Abby established Cereal Ministry at IC during their sophomore year, collaborating with JW Betts. Around 30 students study Romans every Monday. They gather on Thursday evenings for cereal, appealing especially to students who are exploring spirituality. This fall, BG’s worship team contributed boxes of cereal to support the ministry. Stay tuned for chances to contribute as well! And pray for students’ salvation
