Veterinary Mission Trip

I have been part of the BG community and involved in Cornell’s International Christian Fellowship for years while studying in veterinary school. This has helped strengthen me to in turn help lead Cornell’s Christian Veterinary Fellowship (CVF) . Now, as I am about to become a veterinarian this childhood dream feels unreal. I want to thank you for being the encouraging church family I needed to grow in my walk. God has used your unique access to those in the veterinary field to change students’ lives. I’m now answering God’s call to overseas veterinary missions!

Asia and its people are dear to me and so I am preparing for a month-long trip to Mongolia this June to work alongside and learn from full-time veterinary missionaries. Livestock are critical to the Mongolian economy and lifestyle; however, their veterinary training involves little hands-on experience. Simultaneously, more people are adopting western views of owning pets, and the curriculums have not accommodated the change. This has created a rich field of opportunity for those in animal medicine to reach both animal owners and the veterinarians. Our work through a Christian Veterinary Mission training center and animal clinic offers veterinary training, English classes, and Bible Studies for Mongolian vets. Sharing of our faith will be a regular part of each day through devotions, evening Bible studies, and personal interactions. Our desire is to ensure that the work we do is sustainable and training in-country veterinarians to then share their knowledge and testimonies about God’s creation across the other Mongolian states.

Looking ahead, I will be experiencing day-to-day ministry life and walking alongside my siblings in God’s family while we heal part of His creation. It will be a big change, so I greatly desire your prayers. I also ask for prayers for the Mongolian people; that God would ready these fields. Our efforts cannot succeed without prayer, because God’s is the only one who works the change in people’s hearts. I will be back in Ithaca, Sunday July 14th to share about God’s work!
