Remember your teenage years? Was there a trip that influenced who you are today?
BGYouth is providing an opportunity for six teens and five adults to build intergenerational and cross-cultural relationships on a trip to Ecuador. Our Ecuador Team will serve alongside BG supported missionaries Jim and Suzy Olsen at Hacienda El Refugio from April 12th to 19th. In the rural town of Calacali, we will help with projects alongside their local ministry team and participate in outreach to families in the El Refugio scholarship program.
By partnering with our people who are in the field, we will serve in the work God is already doing through El Refugio.
In addition to traveling to a foreign country, the Ecuador Team will also be introduced to the local Ecuadorian church, an opportunity to experience the body of Christ in a different culture. This will open many spiritual conversations. We are working to cultivate an attitude of servanthood as a team, planning to engage our new experiences with curiosity and humility.
We are grateful for folks from our congregation who are helping the Ecuador Team prepare for the trip. Please pray for them as they help the team.
Heidi King: as she teaches aspects of bonding as a team through team building exercises.
Spanish Small Group: as they interact with us over a home-cooked Latino meal, having conversations on cultural aspects of the trip.
Global Missions Committee: as they meet with each team member prior to the trip and debrief with us after we return.
Will you partner with us too? Would you kindly pray for our team? Pray for wisdom and guidance for the team and our hosts. Pray also for our relationships with Ecuadorians, that we will be open to learning from each other and will honor God in the way we interact.
Will you also partner with us financially? The team needs to raise around $8,800, or a third of the total cost of the trip ($23000 – $26000). Come fellowship with us next Sunday, January 26th, at the 10:45 AM brunch fundraiser before BG’s quarterly meeting. Get to know some of the team members and pray with us! We look forward to seeing you!
