Student Ministries at the Annual Meeting

The agenda for BG’s annual meeting on June 1st will be packed. Every year at this time, members gather to approve a budget for the next fiscal year and affirm new elders, deacons, deaconesses, and other officers. This is the meeting that sets the next year in motion.

An especially important focus at this annual meeting will be BG Youth under our Director of Student Ministries, Teddy Yesudasan.

As you know, several high school students and adults went to Ecuador during Holy Week. They served our missionaries Jim and Suzy Olsen, working on many facilities projects and experiencing the Olsens’ team-building ministry. But that’s only part of what they did. Teddy led the team through a series of exercises to prepare: cultural immersion, missions training, and fundraising.

In this experience, our students gained a broader vision of Christ’s Kingdom, a stronger sense of their own skills, and deeper relationships.

And they’re not done for the summer.

BG Youth will provide lunch for us at the annual meeting to raise funds for even more acts of service. As they do each summer, they will work hard for a local church, this time in Pittsburgh, PA. Alan Pauling will be leading them again on this trip.

I am proud of how our students are committed to serve others.

All this spiritual growth is the result of patient and skilled leadership. The elders and I made a recommendation at the April quarterly meeting that members will vote on June 1st. We have evaluated all the progress BG Youth has made over the past 18 months, concluding that Teddy should receive the title pastor, together with some more responsibilities.

Teddy’s leadership has gone beyond managing well. He gives care for people’s souls and he guides others to do the same. He’s a pastor.

Though only members can vote at BG’s meetings, all are welcome. Please come on June 1st at 12:15 pm after adult education, enjoy lunch, and learn more about the opportunities we have in 2025-26.
