by Global & Local Missions Committees
Each year at Thanksgiving and as a sign of our gratefulness to God for His many blessings, a local and global focus are selected to support with a financial gift.
Our Global Missions Committee has selected Kenyan Orphans through Ministry Support Services (MSS) and Ukrainian Pastors through Humanitarian Aid Response Team (HART) as recipients for this year’s offering.
MSS is a ministry connected to BG friend and missionary to various people groups of Africa, Ben Skaggs. In recent months, his co-laborers in Kenya have taken on the immense burden of caring for over 150 abandoned children. The need was acute and their hearts were soft, and they have sacrificed much to respond to this calling. They have been strategic in cooperating with the local chief and have received his support as they have undertaken to feed, house, care for, and teach these dear ones the life-changing good news of Jesus.
HART is a ministry connected to BG friends and former missionaries to Ukraine, Bill & Colleen Thomas. Among other things, HART actively encourages the people of Ukraine through regular Trauma Healing Conferences for pastors and wives. Wartime ministry is uniquely challenging, with dedicated pastors serving in harm’s way, surrounded by immense pain, and quietly carrying a heavy burden. These retreats create space for God to restore weary hearts, renew marriages, strengthen faith, rekindle the joy of serving, and remind them that they are not alone.
Our Local Ministries Committee has chosen Cornell’s Christian Union and Family Life Network as recipients for our Thank Offering this year.
Christian Union reaches the Cornell campus with the Gospel by developing Christian student leaders and offering Bible courses, 1:1 student discipleship, conferences, retreats, and a weekly leadership lecture series (Vita Fidei). They also host “CU Proclaim”, a week-long regional summit culminating in large worship gatherings at Sage Chapel. BG’s Jake Thomas is the Ministry Director of Cornell’s Christian Union.
Family Life Network (FLN) impacts lives with the message of hope found in Jesus Christ. Family life does this through Christian radio, performing arts, biblical counseling, and a variety of concerts and events with the purpose of spreading the Gospel. FLN reaches many thousands of people and can be heard locally on 101.1 FM radio.
Please pray and consider how you might give to this year’s offering. Designated contributions can be made from now through Nov. 30.
To Contribute, use the yellow envelope found in each row and make checks out to Bethel Grove Bible Church with ”Thank Offering” written in memo line.
