This sermon was preached without the usual preparation and study. BG opened up the service to the Holy Spirit’s leading in a more direct way for this sermon. The elders selected a passage for Pastor Raley to preach. The worship leader picked songs without knowing that passage. And Pastor Raley found out that he was preaching from Romans 12.1-2 at the same time as everyone else: when elder Jeff Ives read the passage for the congregation that morning. As a result, everyone saw together what usually only the leaders see. The Holy Spirit uses many people’s decisions each week to craft a service that has a clear theme.
