During the discipleship mini-series, we were challenged with the idea that discipleship flows through delight—that we are what we love. If we are shaped by what we love, what are some ways that we can engage with children that are delightful to them?
On Saturday March 23, from 10am-12pm we will host a community Egg Scramble, with an Easter story trail & treasure hunt.
During this event, we will offer stations with crafts, games, music, and other fun opportunities. We will have the fun-filled activity of hustling about gathering colorful plastic eggs in exchange for sweet treats.
This year, we’re also hoping to offer something new: the Easter story trail & treasure hunt. Families will take a guided walk through our woods, visiting several stations along the way. At each station, they will hear a story from Jesus’ ministry, then also have a brief activity or treasure hunt that will connect with the story. Examples include hearing of the miracle of Jesus feeding the 5000, then finding candy fish at that station. At another station they will decorate half donuts to represent the empty tomb. Through the trail, we hope to share the miracle of Easter, while providing physical reminders that will provide anchor-points to plant the truth.
On Friday, April 5th, from 9am-12pm we’ll hold another School Break Nature Day for elementary students. This is a drop-off program where we are outdoors, exploring a story from Scripture, and integrating it with practicing nature skills.
So where can you fit in? Do you delight in doing crafts, taking photos, or greeting people? Do you enjoy the logistics of set-up, the satisfaction of clean-up, or interacting with children? I am certain there will be a place where we can utilize your skills and interests in these events!
If you would like to be on the team for March 23rd or April 5th, or with set-up ahead of time, please reach out to heidi@bg.org or fill out a Communication Card to get in touch!
