Holy Week Prayer Tents at Cornell

For this year’s Holy Week, the Christian fellowships at Cornell set up two tents on campus to pray, worship, and share our faith with others. These tents were occupied by at least one person for 24 hours every day of Holy Week.

We were both really moved by the hearts of those who tirelessly reached out to students they did not know, given how easily discouraged one can be when other people aren’t as interested in participaing. There were also people who stayed for a really long time in the tents. Jemima met someone who stayed from 1 AM to 7 AM! People would even bring sleeping bags. Praise God for these brothers’ and sisters’ humility in serving Him!

Similarly, we were able to experience the heart of worship shared by our brothers and sisters across Cornell’s campus when we went to the Holy Week tents around 11 PM on Tuesday. The worship team of Ignite (an all-campus worship night) had been leading songs of adoration and praise to God for a few hours prior to our arrival. This was a deeply encouraging time of fellowship with one another. We were able to meet other Christians, who

were all so eager to get to know one another and ask deep questions about each other’s spiritual journeys. Jade felt especially uplifted when a Christian freshman friend came to join me after seeing my message about doing devotionals at the tents. Truly, we do not run this race alone!

While Holy Week has now come to an end, we ask for your continued prayers for Cornell’s campus. Let us continue to pray for those at Cornell who either have not been reached by the Gospel or have yet to receive it in their hearts. And let us continue to pray for the Christians, for them to muster courage and confidence rooted in their identities in Christ. Thank you for your prayers, then, now, and in the future!
