Imagine a group of children in the woods, gently tending a small fire. Carefully they feed it twigs for fuel, learning the delicate skill of adding wood without putting their own hand in the flame. While it burns, their teacher shares a story—some eyes are on her, some remain fixed on the fire. After a time, the group carefully tends the fire to ashes, extinguishing the flames.
As human beings, we are the only creatures made in the image of God, and fire itself is a tool unique to us.

This summer at Nature Camp, our theme is fire. Each day, we will be retelling Bible stories in which God uses fire to reveal himself—and in which the human beings involved are changed. The stories will tell of our need to be reconnected with our Creator, and how Jesus is the only one able to restore this connection.
This year’s Nature Camp is July 15-18, and July 22-25. It will run from 9 am to 12 pm, free of charge for children entering Kindergarten through 6th grade. Campers will gather in the morning to hear the day’s story, then break into similar age-groups to practice related nature skills in the woods. (Did you know BG’s campus includes some beautiful woods beyond the playground?)
In order to weave this program together, we need many hands on deck—teachers, helpers, and others to support logistics. We will have three volunteer training day options to prepare teachers with the games and activities to use as they are out with their group. We welcome both adults and teen volunteers. Even if you can’t light a match to save your life, there are many ways to support this program!

Please join us in praying for the children and families that will be impacted by Nature Camp, and consider how you might like to get involved. Visit bgnaturecamp.com to learn more, or email heidi@bg.org. Camper registration will open May 1st.
We’ll see you in the woods!
