It’s been said that where we place our treasure indicates the real priority of our hearts. Treasure can be much more than money—our time, energy, education, skills, or reputation. No preaching from me here, as God’s Word can speak it best (Matthew 6.19-20). Just something to keep in the forefront of our minds.
Speaking as BG’s treasurer, I’ve been asked to highlight some financial items. The Bible is full of passages about this kind of treasure. Money provides for our own basic needs but also for the needs of others. It shows God’s power and provision to the world. BG has a long history of investing in God’s Kingdom around the world, both top-class foreign missionaries and local ministries.
Here are some 2023 year-end financial highlights.
2023 Thank Offering
Our annual fund-drive collected $10,406, to be distributed this year to three missions:
~ BG-supported missionaries in Spain, Aaron & Holly Hickes (50%)
~ Ministries supporting Christians in Gaza and Israel (25%)
~ Humanitarian Aid Response Team for Ukraine (25%)
Mid-Year Status for 2023-24 (as of 12/17/23)
~ Total 2023-24 FY General Fund Budget: $653,726
~ YTD Budget (December 17) $308,361
~ Contributions towards General Fund
Budget: $305,390
Renovation Project (fellowship area)
~ Contributions (to Building Fund): $20,950
~ Expenses to date: $20,624
Year End Giving
IRS regulations require that donations to BGBC be received or postmarked by December 31, 2023 in order to be tax-deductible for 2023. Sunday 12/31 is the final Sunday of the year to make an offering in the oak boxes located in the church foyer for 2023. If you plan to deliver your contribution to the church office in person, please call ahead to ensure that someone will be available to receive your contribution or contact Treasurer or Assistant Treasurer. Online giving to the General Fund can also be done safely by visiting bg.org. For Fellowship Fund donations, please be sure to indicate the Fellowship Fund in the memo of a check.
